Meet The Daytona Reflux Center Surgeons


David Ramshaw
Medical Director

David Ramshaw, MD, FACS is a Board Certified General Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ramshaw is a native Floridian who graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine, and completed his surgical residency in Wilmington, North Carolina at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He moved to Daytona Beach in 1996 where he began his practice in surgery with Surgical Associates of Volusia, now North Florida Surgeons, Volusia Division. He is an active faculty member for the FSU College of Medicine. He is comfortable and confident performing a broad variety of general surgical procedures of all the organs in the abdomen.

He has a special interest in caring for patients with breast cancer (participating in a multidisciplinary conference on a weekly basis), hernias of the abdominal wall (ventral, umbilical, incisional, inguinal, lumbar) and diaphragm (hiatal hernia), and patients who have reflux disease that would benefit from laparoscopic procedures including Nissen fundoplication and the LINX procedure. He takes special care of all of his patients, trying to take all the time each patient and their family needs to understand what is happening, what options there are to proceed with care, and creating a team environment to help facilitate the best possible outcome.

Michael Fabian
Surgeon

Michael Fabian, MD, FACS is a Board Certified General Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He graduated from Duke University School of Medicine in 1986, and completed his surgical residency in Tampa, Florida at the University of South Florida. He has been in practice in Daytona Beach since 1993 and was Chief of the Department of Surgery at Halifax Health from 2011 to 2013.

Dr. Fabian’s practice expertise includes all aspects of general surgery, with a special interest in advanced breast cancer surgical techniques, biliary surgery, and advanced laparoscopic surgery.

Joseph D. Bianchi
Surgeon

Joseph D. Bianchi, MD, FACS is a Board Certified General Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a graduate of the University Of Florida College Of Medicine and completed his surgical training in Roanoke, Virginia where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. He has been providing exceptional surgical care in Volusia County area since 1997. During that time, he has served in many leadership roles including, President of the Medical Staff, Chairman of the Credential Committee, and Trauma Medical Director. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Florida State University College of Medicine.

He has special interest and training in diseases of thyroid and parathyroid, as well as all aspects of skin cancer and breast cancer and disease. He has advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques in the treatment of all abdominal disease processes including gallbladder, hernias, colon and GERD.

Mark White
Surgeon

Mark White, MD, FACS is a Board Certified General Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. White was born and raised in Ormond Beach where his father practiced Pediatric medicine. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed his 5-year surgical residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Dr. White returned to the Daytona Beach area in 2001 to begin his practice in surgery. His surgical interests include minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, diseases of the breast, hernia surgery, and anti-reflux surgery. He works with the Florida State University College of Medicine students as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery. He is also an instructor for the American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support course. Outside of work he enjoys golf, surfing, and traveling with his friends and family all over the world.

Andrew W. Gamenthaler
Surgeon

Andrew W. Gamenthaler, M.D. is a specialist in oncology surgery. He has extensive training and experience in the surgical treatment of malignancies of the skin, breast, soft tissues, endocrine system and gastrointestinal system to include esophagus, pancreas, biliary system, colon and stomach.

Dr. Gamenthaler graduated from Florida State University of Medicine and completed his Residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. He completed his Fellowship at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Complex General and Surgical Oncology. Dr. Gamenthaler is board certified by the American Board of Surgeons in General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology.

Lars S. Nelson
Surgeon

Lars S. Nelson, MD graduated Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering in 2004. Following, he proceeded to St. George’s University School of Medicine graduating with honors. He completed his general surgery residency at Orlando Health and went on to further specialize in a Bariatric, Metabolic, and Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship at Orlando Health.

Dr. Nelson specializes in both bariatric and general surgery using a minimally invasive approach. In select cases, he offers robotic surgery utilizing the Da-Vinci Surgical System. Bariatric procedures performed include sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, bilio-pancreatic diversion with duodenal switch, and laparoscopic gastric band. In addition to bariatric surgery, he performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures as well as a broad range of general surgical procedures of the abdomen, breast, colon, thyroid, and trauma surgery.

Tracy Anderson, Clinical Care Coordinator, was born and raised in South Florida. Beginning at 18 years old she worked in hospital pharmacies as a technician for over 15 years. During that time, she moved to Illinois where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Elmhurst College. Tracy has 20+ years experience working with people of all ages and challenges in life. Her passion is helping others and it brings her great joy to work at North Florida Surgeons with a team of dedicated physicians and staff who truly put the patients first.
